We have experienced some limitations with carriers delivering text messages that contain prohibited information.  We now realize the law instituted by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, called SHAFT-C, has created the issue.  It is designed to block SMS messages that contain “Prohibited” subject matter.  Unfortunately, this includes prescription medication.

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU: If your text to us includes the name of any medication, there is a chance it will get filtered and blocked.  We may never receive the text.  Whether you are requesting a refill or simply referencing a medication in regards to a health issue, there is the potential for the text to be blocked and not be delivered to us.

WHAT TO DO:  If you need to reference a medication in a text, try one of the following:

1. Use shorthand or abbreviations for specific medications.  For example: “I need a refill of the heartworm medication” or “I need a refill of the medication on records that start with TR”

2. Reference the RX number located on the top left side of the bottle label “I need a refill of RX # 12345”

3. For non-urgent requests, call 770-698-9227, select Prompt #2 for the pharmacy.  You can leave a detailed phone message requesting the refill.

We monitor texts constantly.  If you text us, and we do not get back with you within a couple of hours, please assume that we did not receive your message and give us a call or send us an email to [email protected] for further assistance.

If there is a medical issue, you could text “My dog is having seizures, I gave the RX we have on hand, and we are on our way to the clinic”.

If there is an IMMEDIATE HEALTH CONCERN, please text “EMERGENCY”.  If no response within 5-10 minutes, please call 770-698-9227. We hope this information will help elevate any delays in providing care for your pets. Please let us know if you have any questions.
