Dr. Cecil "Weedy" Johnson

Veterinarian / Owner

Dr. Cecil “Weedy” Johnson received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from University of Georgia in 1983.

Dr. Johnson has always had a love for animals, people and science and found that veterinary medicine is the perfect combination of all three.  After earning his DVM degree, he was selected as one of only fifteen students vying nationwide for internship at the prestigious Animal Medical Center in New York City. He enjoyed living and working in the Big Apple for a year but was happy to return home to Georgia. Moving to Atlanta, Dr. Johnson worked with Dr. Jan Hines at the Alpharetta Animal Hospital for five years. In 1990, Dr. Johnson opened his own practice, the Dunwoody Animal Medical Center.

Dr. Johnson is happily married with four sons, one daughter and one granddaughter. He lives with his wife, Kim, their two dogs, Summer and Lulu, and their cat, KitKat. He also recently found that two free-range cows have been squatting on his property so apparently he has cows, as well.  An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Johnson appreciates all that nature has to offer. When he’s not watching UGA football, he can be found hiking or fishing in the mountains of North Georgia, working to enhance wildlife habitats, or scuba diving on vacation with his family. He has also been known to occasionally sneak off on his motorcycle for some on and off-road adventure riding.
